Fischer's new top of the line skate boot is stiffer, lighter and faster!
A number of top athletes including Andy Newall, Kikkan Randall, Simi Hamilton, Sadie Bjornsen, Sophie Caldwell and Ben Saxon who had long time relationships with other boot companies tried the Fischer Carbon Skate and made a change for this season.
They tipped the gram scale at 465g per boot (size 42), over 80g lighter than other top end boots. Fischer has moved somewhat outside the box to do this. The inner boot on the Carbon Skate is low, below the ankle, just like a classic boot. The last lace loop is situated to pull the heel down nicely. The Carbon cuff has a bit more padding than past versions and Bert likes the fit around the ankle area. They have also eliminated the instep buckle and depend on the inner lacing to hold the foot, which eliminates further weight.
Then there is the SSR carbon sole. A single outer sole of carbon fiber wraps the heel and continues under the foot all the way to the toe bar. This full carbon chassis is stiffer and lighter than previous Fischer models. This also helps make the boots flat and super quick edge to edge.
