2011 Thrilla Cyclocross Series

Thrilla Cyclocross Series
WebCyclery is proud to host the 8th round of the Thrilla Cyclocross Series in Bend, OR. The Thrilla is a 'Pre-Season' Cyclocross series that is designed to help people get ready for all of the big races, like the Cross Crusade at Halloween, and the USGP in December. The series is a great way for beginners to try out the sport in a casual, non-intimidating way.

Races will be Thursday Nights - Sept 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.
The WebCyclery Thrilla CX Series will be held at the same course as last year...next to Summit Highschool in NW Crossing.

Pricing
Juniors - $8 per race, or $25 for the series.    ***As per OBRA rules, since there will be more than 1 category racing on the course at the same time, all Juniors must be 12 years old or older (as of Dec 31, 2011).
Adults - $15 per race, or $50 for the series  + OBRA License
You can only sign up for the series PRIOR to the start of the first race.

This is an OBRA event.
OBRA licenses are required. OBRA requires that we see proof of membership, so please bring your OBRA card, or a receipt, or a printed email from OBRA stating you are a member of OBRA along with your OBRA membership number. Just knowing your number isn't proof, sorry. OBRA is cracking down on this. If you can't show proof, you will be required to buy a 1 day license for $5.

OBRA licenses can be purchased online at OBRA.org for about $10. Print off your receipt if you do this in the next month, just incase you don't get your card before the first race. You can purchase a season CX license at the race for $15, or a 1-day license for $5. Junior CX Licenses are FREE and can be applied for online or at the race.

Helmets must be worn.

Races
This year we will have 2 separate races each night. The first races will be for Juniors and Beginners (Men C, Women C, Men C 40+). It will start at 5:25PM, and will be 3.5 laps (for the winner) which will be about 30-40 minutes. Each category will start in a separate wave, roughly 30 seconds apart, in the following order: Men C, Men C 40+, Women C, Juniors.  The second race will start at about 6:15, and will consist of all the experienced racers (Men A & B, Women A & B, Men A & B 40+). They will race for 4.5-5.5 laps (for the winner) depending on daylight, which should take 37-55 minutes).
Each category will start in a separate wave, roughly 30 seconds apart, in the following order: Men A, Men A 40+, Women A, Men B, Men B 40+, Women B.

Categories
Men A - Stupid Fast guys
Men A 40+ - Still Stupid fast, just more mature
Women A - Still Stupid fast, and probably even more mature
Men B - Pretty fast guys, sport riders
Men B 40+ - Same but older
Women B - Pretty fast, sport riders
Men C - Beginners
Men C 40+ - Older beginners
Women C - Female beginners
Juniors/HighSchool - 12-18yr olds. Juniors can race in the A or B categories if they want, but then they can't race the Junior category.
Racers are not allowed to race in more than 1 event per night.

Results & Prizes
Winners from each race will receive a 6 pack of beer from Cascade Lakes Brewing Company (or soda for those under 21). Since scoring is such a pain (scoring 6 different races at a time, with staggered starts, and getting lap times to boot), we will not be giving the prizes immediately after the race. Winners will be able to pick up their 6 packs at WebCyclery anytime after the results are announced.

Series winners will receive a custom Thrilla trophy from Realm Cycles.

Series points are based on a 30 point scale for each race. Points are awarded to the top 15 places in a category, with 1st place receiving 30 points, 2nd place gets 25, 3rd gets 22, then it continues 19,17,15,13,11,9,7,5,4,3,2,1. Points will be added for all 4 races. 120 points would be the maximum available (if you won all 4 races in your category). If you change categories, your point total from the lower category gets cut in half, but applied to the new category. So if you win the Men C (30 points) and upgrade to the Men B for the next race, you will get 15 points applied to the series overall in the B category.

We will TRY to have the results up each Thursday night a few hours after the races. We are only human and mistakes get made. We will try to correct incorrect results as soon as we can. Some mistakes can easily be prevented if you fill out your registration waiver neatly and correctly and completely. If you can't print your name legibly or fill out your form correctly, we probably won't be able to guess correctly. Also, we get some information straight from OBRA, so if you switched teams and haven't changed that with OBRA, we might still print your old team...so check with them and make sure your membership info is up to date.

Bibs
Every rider will be issued a bib number when they register. You must re-use this number for each Thrilla race that you race. DO NOT LOSE your number. There is a $5 charge for issuing replacement numbers. If your number gets damaged, please bring it to the registration table and we will EXCHANGE it at no charge. If you get a replacement number, that is your new number. Do not use the old one if you find it at home. This will only screw up the results; not just your results, but all of the results get buggered up.

Bibs must be worn on the riders LEFT side, so that the number is readable from the riders LEFT.
Please use all four pins.If you have your number on upside down or on the wrong side, you will not be counted. If your number falls off or can't be seen, you will not be counted. If your number is on your handlebars instead of your left side, you will not be counted.

Behavior
Just a reminder that it is illegal to consume alcohol within 1000ft of a school - so please leave it at home. If you need a beer after the race, please head over to Pisano's or LaRosa, just a block away. Also, please remember that people live in that big brown building on the road section of the course. We need to be as unobtrusive as possible. Also, please don't litter. We need to keep the area clean if we want to continue to use the venue in the future.
